Putting aside the fact that it’s more expensive to execute someone than imprison them for the rest of their life, politicians have turned it into a platform for appearing tough on crime, possibly leading to the execution of innocent people. Innocent people have without a doubt, been executed, and if for no reason other than that, capital punishment should be abolished.
Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing Twilight gone, but banning books sets a dangerous precedent. Are we banning them because they are actually harmful, or just because we see them as dangerous to the status quo/they don’t align with our personal views. Banning books on a certain subject matter doesn’t make that issue disappear, it just makes future generations less informed and more ignorant when dealing with it.
The only difference between Muslim extremists and American Christian extremists is that the former wants to destroy the United States with explosives and violence, while the latter wants to destroy it with idiotic political policies. There’s nothing wrong with being religious, just don’t push your views on others.
